Teddy Pendergrass
Teddy Pendergrass was an American R&B and soul singer whose rich, powerful voice made him one of the defining artists of the 1970s and 1980s. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he first rose to fame as the lead vocalist of Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, delivering classic hits such as "If You Don't Know Me by Now," "The Love I Lost," and "Bad Luck."
After launching a solo career in 1977, Pendergrass became one of the era's biggest stars with chart-topping songs including "Close the Door," "Love T.K.O.," "Turn Off the Lights," and "Come Go with Me." His smooth vocals and passionate performances earned him multiple platinum albums and a lasting place in R&B history.
Despite a life-changing automobile accident in 1982 that left him paralyzed, Teddy Pendergrass continued to record music, perform, and inspire millions through his resilience and determination.
